Which country is the world’s largest producer of bananas?

Bananas top the list of the five mostly eaten fruits followed by oranges, pineapples, apples and grapes. Going by the production figures too, it clearly beats the king of fruits – mango.
With an annual production of 26.2 million tons which is 27.5% of the total production globally, India tops the list of countries having the largest production of bananas (as of 2011). Philippines ranks second, with its nearly 9 million tons production capacity followed by China, Ecuador and Brazil.
